LA Galaxy legend Landon Donovan throws out the first pitch at Los Angeles Dodgers game

Landon Donovan throws the First Pitch at Dodgers game

Landon Donovan is not lining up in the midfield for the LA Galaxy anymore, but the recently retired soccer star is keeping busy as he threw out the ceremonial first pitch at Dodger Stadium on Wednesday before the Los Angeles Dodgers game against the San Diego Padres.

The all-time leading goal scorer for MLS and the U.S. Men’s National Team has enjoyed quite a life since hanging up his boots after his MLS Cup triumph in December. Since retiring, Donovan has announced his engagement to his longtime girlfriend Hannah, traveled across the globe and has even begun to pursue a college degree by attending classes at a local community college.

Wednesday was the second time that Donovan has taken part in pregame ceremonies at Dodger Stadium as the U.S. Soccer legend once threw out the first pitch in 2010 before joining the U.S. National Team ahead of the World Cup in South Africa.

A self-professed diehard fan of Los Angeles sports, Donovan was overjoyed about his latest Dodger Stadium experience.

“I grew up watching the Dodgers and listening to the Dodgers on the radio. I met Tommy Lasorda,” Donovan told reporters on Wednesday. “As a Dodgers fan, he’s the cream of the crop.”
