CARSON, Calif. – Robbie Keane believes that he’s ready to get back on the field against Vancouver Whitecaps FC after missing last week’s match in New England.

Galaxy head coach Bruce Arena opted to leave Keane behind for the Revolution match due to his groin strain issue that sidelined him for much of May.  Keane has enjoyed plenty of success against the Whitecaps throughout his career with four goals and five assists in nine regular season matches.

“I look forward to getting some minutes in the second half. We’ll have to see [if I can start] but I think that getting minutes in the second half is the cleverest thing in the moment,” said Keane. “I feel really good. This is about being clever and making sure that there are no setbacks. … I feel sharp.”

Immediately following the Vancouver game, Keane will join up with the Republic of Ireland for their matches against England and Scotland next week.

Even though his captain will be leaving after the game, Arena says that there is no guarantee that he’ll start the Irishman on Saturday.

“I haven’t decided yet. Robbie Keane should be on the field as long as he can be on the field. We want to get him in a starting role as soon as possible. Whether it’s this weekend or the following week, we’ll see.”
