CARSON, Calif. -- Bruce Arena confirmed on Tuesday that Steven Gerrard will join the LA Galaxy later this month.
The Galaxy head coach told reporters after training that Gerrard will join up with the squad in "late June" after the 35-year-old enjoys some time away from the game following a grueling final season with Liverpool FC.
Arena has previously stated that Gerrard could be available as early as the Galaxy's friendly against Club America on July 11. Gerrard will be officially added to the club's roster on July 8.
ROBBIE KEANE RETURNS TO TRAINING
Robbie Keane has returned to the LA Galaxy after a brief appearance for the Republic of Ireland in their Euro 2016 qualifier with Scotland last Saturday.
Dealing with the untimely passing of his cousins, Keane went 12 minutes in Ireland's 1-1 draw with Scotland at Dublin's Aviva Stadium.
As for whether Keane could suit up against PSA Elite on Wednesday, Galaxy head coach Bruce Arena claimed that "everything is possible" in terms of a potential Keane appearance against the the amateur side.
SEBASTIAN LLETGET SAYS HE'S RETURNING TO FULL FITNESS
Sebastian Lletget scored a goal in his first start with the LA Galaxy last Saturday but the 22-year-old says the best is yet to come.
Lletget went 84 minutes in the 1-1 draw with Columbus, scoring his first career goal in Galaxy uniform. Three days after his strong showing against the Crew, Lletget admitted that he was hoping for extended minutes against PSA Elite.
"The 85 minute appearance [against Columbus] was tough, I’m not going to lie, but I think I could do 80 [against PSA Elite]. Those last 10 minutes I just got to keep working on that," Lletget said. "I feel great, it’s just getting those last 20, 30 minutes. Those are tough. I need to be sharper in those times."
