Keane final goal

CARSON, Calif. – LA Galaxy Insider Adam Serrano provides his Three Points to the Galaxy’s 4-0 victory over Toronto FC.

ROBBIE KEANE’S HAT TRICK

A little rest seems to have done Robbie Keane a world of good.

After looking gassed in the closing stages of the Galaxy’s defeat to the San Jose Earthquakes, the forward was once again on top of his game, scoring three goals in LA’s victory over Toronto. On Saturday night, the forward was dangerous in all facets and terrorized Toronto’s defense throughout the 90 minutes.

Keane’s third career LA Galaxy hat trick saw him score a variety of finishes from the simple penalty to a brilliant run around the ‘keeper for his final tally.

BRIAN ROWE EARNS A SHUTOUT AS THE GALAXY DEFENSE SHUTOUT GIOVINCO

Sebastian Giovinco showed flashes of brilliance on Saturday night, but the influential Italian midfielder could not break through a resolute Galaxy defense.

Giovinco was able to break through the Galaxy defense early on, but when the Italian looked for his teammates, LA’s defenders were there to keep Toronto off the board. As the game wore on, LA ramped up the pressure on the midfielder who found himself unable to influence the match when the Galaxy began to pull away.

When Toronto did break through LA’s back four, goalkeeper Brian Rowe was there to stop the danger and made three saves on the evening.

FROM LIVERPOOL TO LOS ANGELES

The LA Galaxy’s newest designated player Steven Gerrard offered a friendly hello to his new supporters at halftime of the Galaxy’s win over Toronto FC.

Gerrard provided a few brief comments to the sellout crowd during halftime of the Galaxy’s victory, wishing his new fans a Happy Fourth of July and declaring his excitement to play for his new club. Prior to the game, Gerrard issued a personal welcome to the club’s three Supporters Groups by buying the Angel City Brigade, Galaxians and LA Riot Squad beer for their pregame tailgates.

Gerrard will be officially eligible to play for the Galaxy on July 8, which means that he can make his debut as early as the July 11 friendly against Club America. The 35-year-old midfielder will be available for league play when the Galaxy host the San Jose Earthquakes on July 17.
