Match Report: LA Galaxy II fall to Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC on the road, 2-0

CARSON, Calif.(Friday, July 31, 2015) – LA Galaxy II (11-6-3, 36 points) fell short with a 2-0 loss to Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC on Friday night at Sand Creek Stadium. Galaxy II remain in second place in the Western Conference standings with Colorado Springs Switchbacks trailing in third. 
Galaxy II opened the weekend in Colorado Springs for the growing soccer community on Friday evening before LA Galaxy face the Colorado Rapids at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park on Saturday, Aug. 1 at 6 p.m. PT.
After featuring Tuesday in the MLS All-Star Chipotle Homegrown game, Bradford Jamieson IV was in the starting XI for Curt Onalfo’s squad and Oscar Sorto made an appearance in the second half, coming in for Travis Bowen.

The second meeting between the two clubs picked up right where they left off as Mike Seth tested Galaxy II goalkeeper Cement Diop in the first minute. Both goals came from Luke Vercollone, who scored in the 21st minute and in the 83rd minute as Miguel Gonzalez earned a PK from a foul by LA Galaxy II captain Daniel Steres.


Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC are now 11-6-2 with 35 points as their leading goal scorer Luke Vercollone found his ninth and tenth goals of the season. Assisting the first goal for Vercollone, Miguel Gonzalez trails behind Luke with eight goals and five assists on the year.
Despite snapping their seven game win streak, LA Galaxy II continue in second place as they carry on to their third consecutive road game.
Galaxy II will now travel to meet OKC Energy FC (7-5-7, 28 pts.) at Taft Stadium on Tuesday, Aug. 4 at 5 p.m. PT. This will mark the second meeting between the two clubs after in a 1-1 draw at StubHub Center on July 5.
