Match Report: LA Galaxy II fall to OKC Energy FC on the road, 2-0

CARSON, Calif.(Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2015) – LA Galaxy II (11-7-3, 36 points) fell 2-0 to OKC Energy FC Tuesday night on the road at Taft Stadium in the final match of a three-game road swing. Galaxy II remain in tied for first place in the Western Conference Standings with 36 points on the USL Regular Season.
After going on a seven-game unbeaten streak, Los Dos have dropped their previous two matches. The club returns to StubHub Center this weekend when they host Arizona United SC Sunday, Aug. 9 at 4 p.m. PT as part of a doubleheader with the LA Galaxy-Seattle Sounders FC MLS match at 1 p.m. PT. All fans with tickets to the MLS match between LA and Seattle (1 p.m. PT) will have free entry to the LA Galaxy II match against Arizona United SC (4 p.m. PT).
Tuesday’s match between Los Dos and OKC Energy FC was originally scheduled for May 9 in Oklahoma City, but was postponed due to the threat of severe weather. It marked the second time the two sides faced off, with the last meeting ending in a 1-1 draw on July 5 at StubHub Center.
The hosts struck first when they opened the scoring behind a goal from Peter Toth. Toth followed up on a save from Galaxy II goalkeeper Clement Diop against USL goal-scoring leader Danni König before firing the loose ball into the back of the net to make the score 1-0.

In the 35th minute, Energy FC doubled the score behind a goal from Sebastian Dalgaard, who fired a one-touch shot from outside the 18 that found its way past Diop. Dalgaard got on the end of a ball from long range before launching the shot on goal with his right foot.

Los Dos spent the remainder of the match looking for a goal to answer, but were unable to score in Oklahoma City. The closest effort of the night came from team-leading goalscorer Ariel Lassiter midway through the second half. The forward almost put Galaxy II within one after running in behind the defense and chipping a ball over the opposing goalkeeper, but his shot fell just wide of net.
