Three Points: Giovani dos Santos steals the show on his MLS debut as the LA Galaxy top the Seattle Sounders, 3-1

CARSON, Calif. – LA Galaxy Insider Adam Serrano provides his Three Points from the Galaxy’s 3-1 win over Seattle Sounders FC.

GALAXY BATTLE BACK FROM EARLY DEFICIT

The LA Galaxy were far from perfect on Sunday, but the quality in Bruce Arena’s side the club overcame an undermanned Seattle Sounders FC squad.

Former Galaxy forward Chad Barrett put Seattle ahead after just 51 seconds, but saw his day come to an end just moments later after injuring himself during his celebration. The Galaxy pulled level with a Seattle side without the services of any of their Designated Players in the 11th minute, when Gyasi Zardes cleverly placed a Juninho cross into the back of the net with his right foot. Just 86 seconds into the second half, the Galaxy got their lead when Giovani dos Santos played an A.J. DeLaGarza cross to Robbie Keane for the eventual game winner.

LA’s newest star signing bagged a goal of his own in the 64th minute as a perfect Keane through-ball gave him plenty of space to deliver an uncontested shot past Seattle’s Stefan Frei. Seattle nearly cut LA’s lead to just one in the 70th minute, but Andy Rose saw his opportunity from close range cleared off the line by a heads-up play from Robbie Rogers.

GIOVANI SHINES IN MLS DEBUT

Giovani dos Santos put forth another excellent showing in his MLS debut against Seattle Sounders FC on Sunday.

Dos Santos tallied a goal and an assist in his first career MLS match, helping the LA Galaxy roar back from an early deficit for the win. Against Seattle, the Mexican international was active throughout and was rewarded for his positive play in the 64th minute. Dos Santos opened his MLS account when Sebastian Lletget found Robbie Keane who delivered a pinpoint through-ball to the Mexican forward for the finish.

The StubHub Center crowd showed their appreciation for the Mexican international by giving him a standing ovation when he exited the match in the 69th minute for Alan Gordon.

THE MOST TALENTED ATTACK IN LEAGUE HISTORY?

We got our first look at the LA Galaxy’s star-studded lineup on Sunday and they did not disappoint as LA erased an early deficit to defeat Seattle Sounders FC 3-1.

Starting a front six that boasted the likes of Giovani dos Santos, Robbie Keane and Steven Gerrard among others, the Galaxy overwhelmed a Seattle side missing many of their biggest stars. Despite falling behind early, LA’s big guns came through to knock off the Sounders. After Sunday’s performance, the Galaxy have now scored 22 goals in their last five MLS home games.

The Galaxy’s cavalcade of stars will get their first true test next week when they travel to Frisco, Texas to take on FC Dallas.
