Past postseason success against Seattle means nothing to the LA Galaxy ahead of Knockout Round | INSIDER

CARSON, Calif. -- The LA Galaxy have never lost an MLS Cup series to Seattle Sounders FC, but what does that mean heading into Wednesday's Knockout Round game at CenturyLink Field?

Well, according to Galaxy head coach Bruce Arena, not one damn thing.

The LA Galaxy knocked Seattle out of the playoffs in 2010, 2012 and 2014, but Arena insists that his team will pay that record no mind when they travel to CenturyLink Field for Wednesday's MLS Cup Knockout Round match.

"Don’t even talk about that stuff, nobody knows that to be honest with you," Arena said when asked about the team's success over Seattle in the postseason. "You’ve obviously not been part of an athletic team before. Those things have nothing to do with this game Wednesday, nothing to do with it. I don’t know how you can think of rivalries, three playoff series that’s going to mean anything Wednesday. It has nothing to do with it."

Galaxy captain Robbie Keane, who participated in all but one of those victories over the Sounders while scoring three postseason goals against Seattle, agreed that LA will not be resting on their past laurels when Wednesday rolls around.

"It doesn’t matter because the playoffs are different, but the good thing is we know we can go there and win the game. Because we’ve done it in the past," Keane said. "We’ve played so much there we kind of know the field probably more than anybody else in this league. No excuses now. We have to go there and give it our best and make sure we come out of there with a win.'
