CARSON, Calif. – LA Galaxy head coach Bruce Arena downplayed a report in the Los Angeles Times that Jaime Penedo might return to the club in 2016.
In an interview with reporters on Wednesday, the Galaxy boss poured cold water on speculation that the Galaxy and the Panamanian’s representative were interested in reestablishing a relationship that could see Penedo return to the Galaxy. The 34-year-old goalkeeper left the Galaxy in late July to pursue other opportunities, but recently expressed regret over his hasty departure after not being able to find a club for three months.
“We haven’t spoken to him,” Arena told reporters on Wednesday.
Regarding incumbent goalkeeper Donovan Ricketts, Arena stated that the club has not “finalized anything” with the Jamaican goalkeeper who is currently out of contract. Arena did note, however, that the club is looking for upgrades at “all positions.”
