LA Galaxy win three MLS Club and Executive Awards

CARSON, Calif. (Thursday, Jan. 14, 2016) – The LA Galaxy were recognized by Major League Soccer with three 2015 MLS Club and Executive Awards, recognizing individuals and clubs for outstanding contributions off the field during the 2015 season. The Galaxy won honors as the Marisa Colaiano Community Relations Department of the Year presented by MLS WORKS, the Club Retailer of the Year, and the Marketing Team of the Year.

The LA Galaxy Community Relations Department of the Year demonstrated a commitment to investing and engaging in the local Los Angeles community throughout the entire year, highlighted by 20 for Twenty, a year-long initiative featuring the implementation of over a hundred unique community service acts to celebrate the Galaxy’s 20th season in Major League Soccer.


Overall, over 415 LA Galaxy volunteers spent over 2,000 hours in the Los Angeles community in various service projects, including welcoming 100 high school girls to attend the Galaxy’s first Women’s Soccer Seminar, signing the LA Galaxy Special Olympics team which traveled to face FC Dallas, donating over 5,700 tickets to non-profit youth groups, and contributing over half a million dollars to community programs and national non-profits, among others.


As part of 20 for Twenty, the LA Galaxy Foundation donated over $500,000, including 275 material donations to groups across Southern California. In addition to the contributions, the Foundation also hosted free LA Galaxy community soccer clinics for 1,212 children in the Los Angeles area.

The LA Galaxy recorded one of the club’s most successful seasons in club retail in the team’s 20-year history.
