CARSON, Calif. – Brian Rowe came through in the clutch for the LA Galaxy when they needed him most on Sunday night.

After starting goalkeeper Dan Kennedy was forced to exit in the 20th minute with a muscle injury, Rowe filled the void and made five saves in the Galaxy’s 4-1 win over D.C. United. Although Rowe wasn’t able to get a proper warm up before entering the match, the 27-year-old impressed.

“It’s something that you have to always be prepared for but usually never happens. It just goes back to that mentality that you never know when you’ll be called upon. It wasn’t the ideal situation being 1-0 down and not getting many touches on the ball before, but defense and the team did a great job," Rowe said. "I felt good. The biggest part of a game like that where you’re trying to get up to speed is trying to get that first touch, and that first save. I got some passes in and couple saves, and then the nerves calmed down, and I got into the game.”

With Kennedy nursing an injury, Rowe may be in line to get the start next Saturday when the Galaxy take on the Colorado Rapids. If given the start, Rowe says that he’s ready for his chance.

“I feel great,” Rowe said. “It’s been a great preseason, and I’m feeling as good as I’ve ever felt. I’d look forward to the opportunity.”
