CARSON, Calif. – Landon Donovan is expected to be available when the LA Galaxy take on Seattle Sounders FC on Sunday.
Donovan was not present for the team’s training session on Friday, but underwent a regeneration session after participating in an intra-squad scrimmage with Galaxy II earlier in the week. Since ending his retirement two weeks ago, Donovan has made two appearances for the Galaxy, scoring a dramatic equalizer in the team’s 2-2 draw with Sporting KC last week.
When asked about Donovan’s status, Arena asserted that the 34-year-old would be available, declaring the forward’s availability to be “the least of his worries.”
“He’s getting better. He’s been rushed into things, I think he’s going into his third week. He’s literally in preseason [form},” Galaxy boss Bruce Arena said. “His minutes are obviously going to be limited over the next couple of games. He’s making improvements.”
