CARSON, Calif. – Could Giovani dos Santos lineup one day alongside his brother Jonathan with the LA Galaxy? Potentially according to the Galaxy’s Mexican striker.
Dos Santos told reporters at the league’s Media and Marketing Tour on Tuesday that there is interest from his brother Jonathan to making a move to the Galaxy in the future. Jonathan is currently in the midst of a banner season with Spanish club C.F. Villarreal, but the elder Dos Santos brother admits that he hopes the two could team up one day with the Galaxy.
“As I said last year, It’s always been my dream and his dream to play in the same team. There is a chance. Hopefully, soon we can be together,” Dos Santos said. "We don't know. There's interest on both sides, it's been discussed, but as of today, there's no answer. He's still a Villarreal player, so we'll wait to see what happens."
Teammates with the Mexican national team, the Dos Santos brothers both began their careers in the youth academy of FC Barcelona and were later reunited with C.F. Villarreal in 2014 until Giovani left to join the Galaxy a year later.
"We've talked about it, and I know that he has a desire to play with me in LA someday," Dos Santos said of Jonathan. "I know there's interest from the [Galaxy] as well, but he's a Villarreal player, so there's nothing concrete at the moment."
