Sebastian Lletget determined to produce for the U.S. National Team after call for World Cup qualifiers | INSIDER

CARSON, Calif. -- Sebastian Lletget is "over the moon" after being named to Bruce Arena's 24-man roster for the U.S. National Team's 2018 World Cup qualifiers against Honduras and Panama.

Lletget and Galaxy teammate Jermaine Jones were named to the squad for the games with Honduras at San Jose's Avaya Stadium on March 24 and then Panama in Panama City four days later. The 24-year-old Galaxy midfielder solidified his place on the roster with a strong showing in the team's two friendly matches earlier this year, and now Lletget is eager to make even more of an impact.

"Coming into these games is going to be an amazing experience. It's a huge honor to represent this country at the highest level, and the two World Cup qualifiers are very important for us moving forward. We need to win these games," Lletget told LAGalaxy.com. "I believe [they're must win games] especially the Honduras game because moving onto Panama is never going to be easy. We have to match the intensity ... With the players that we have, we can do it."

The first match against Honduras will have special significance for Lletget who will hope to make his first competitive appearance for the national team at San Jose's Avaya Stadium only miles from his hometown of San Francisco. The importance of having his family and friends in attendance isn't lost on the 24-year-old, but Lletget says the most important thing for him will be representing his country once again.

"You couldn't write it any better. At this point in my career, I can look back and say that this is an amazing accomplishment. I never gave up and now I'm at this point and it's amazing," Lletget said. "My family and friends will be there and most importantly, it feels rewarding to put on the shirt again. It's going to be something special."
