CARSON, Calif. – Ashley Cole and Gyasi Zardes are still questionable for the LA Galaxy’s clash with Real Salt Lake on Saturday.
Cole has missed the last two matches due to a calf injury and despite returning to full training this week, the 36-year-old defender is unlikely to play in Saturday’s match against Real Salt Lake. According to Onalfo, it may be best to play it safe and let the defender rest ahead of the grind after the international break.
“It’s not likely. It’s just a little too soon,” Onalfo told reporters. “He’s coming off that injury and the prudent thing is that we have the international breaks and we can give him some more training so he’s available for Vancouver.”
Onalfo is still in a holding pattern with Gyasi Zardes who has yet to make an appearance this season due to a knee injury.
“We’ll make a determination tomorrow,” Onalfo said. “He did some work inside and we’ll have him out on the field tomorrow to see if he’s ready to be part of our group that travels to Salt Lake.”
