Road warriors? LA Galaxy believe road trip could lead to their first victory of 2017 | INSIDER

CARSON, Calif. – The LA Galaxy opened the season with two home losses for the first time and now they’ll head on the road in hopes of capturing their first victory of the 2017 campaign.

Traveling on the road in Major League Soccer is never easy, but Curt Onalfo’s group are confident that a road trip could be just what the team needs before the international break.

“When you’re away on a road trip, you focus more on the game plan, and you're concentrated on what it is as well as keeping a shutout and winning,” Jose Villarreal said. “Hopefully, this is a good trip for us.”

“Why not?” added Jermaine Jones. “The games that we’ve played were not bad ones. Portland was a counter that cut us, and we played well with 10 men. Now we go to Salt Lake, and we know that they have a good team, but we have one too. We know that once we get that one win, we’ll have that turnaround and show a different face.”

The Galaxy have had success at Rio Tinto Stadium in recent years with a 2-2-4 at the venue since the 2014 campaign. Last year, the Galaxy drew 3-3 with Salt Lake in a shootout at the RioT. With that experience in the back of their mind, Ema Boateng, who has terrorized Salt Lake, believes the Galaxy can get the first victory of the season on Saturday night in Sandy.

“We haven’t gotten the results at home so we might as well go out there and get it,” Boateng said. “Last year, we had a good game in Salt Lake where we controlled most of the game but drew in the last moment of the game. I’m pretty confident that we can go out there and have a good performance again.”
