Jermaine Jones is looking to get back in the fold for the U.S. National Team after being sidelined for the USMNT’s 6-0 victory over Honduras due to yellow card accumulation.

The LA Galaxy midfielder is expected to be in contention to start Tuesday’s 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Panama on Tuesday in Panama City. After Friday’s huge win brought Bruce Arena’s men up to fourth place in the Hexagonal standings, Jones says the USMNT are ready to finish the job and get another victory in Central America.

“We want to finish business from this camp and go home with three more points,” Jones told reporters in Panama on Sunday.

The Panamanians will be no easy task, however, as Los Canaleros sit one spot ahead of the USMNT in the overall standings with a 1-1-1 record to date. The USMNT has had success in Panama City, however, including their famous victory in 2013 that sent the Central Americans out of the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

With that experience in mind, Jones is confident that the U.S. can get another result and continue their push up the table to automatic qualification.

“The away games are always tougher than the home games, especially with the conditions. It will be hot, the field will maybe be a little bit bumpy, but if we go out and play our game, we showed it already in 2013 that we can come here and win the game.”
