Tradition: Eight key LA Galaxy front office and coaching positions now held by former Galaxy players | INSIDER

CARSON, Calif. – The LA Galaxy take great pride in their past as they prepare for the future and that is a primary reason that a considerable number of the club’s most important positions are made up of former players.

The latest to join is former Galaxy goalkeeper Kevin Hartman who was appointed as the Academy Director of the club’s new Girls Academy on Monday. A Galaxy legend, Hartman won two MLS Cups with the Galaxy, while making 243 appearances across nearly a decade with the organization.

With Hartman’s appointment, former Galaxy players make up most the club’s brass with the president (Chris Klein), general manager (Pete Vagenas), head coach (Curt Onalfo), technical director (Jovan Kirovski), academy director (Mike Munoz & Hartman), Galaxy II head coach (Munoz) and first team assistant coach (Ante Razov) positions all belonging to former players.

Between all of them, the seven men have participated in each of the LA Galaxy’s silverware winning campaigns (MLS Cup, Supporters’ Shield, Western Conference Championship, U.S. Open Cup, CONCACAF Champions League) as either a player or as front office staff.
