CARSON, Calif. – Clement Diop remains unavailable to participate in LA Galaxy training, but goalkeeper Brian Rowe is “ready to go” if needed for Sunday’s match vs. Seattle Sounders FC.
Speaking ahead of Sunday's match, Onalfo says Diop is still struggling with his hip injury suffered in the second half of last weekend's defeat to Orlando City SC. The 23-year-old goalkeeper has not trained with the team outdoors this week, but the Galaxy boss says that he is still under evaluation.
“We need to assess exactly how Diop is doing. He took a significant hit and he’s been struggling most of the week," Onalfo told reporters. "He’s been doing some stuff inside, but he hasn’t been outside. We’ll see if he’ll be able to come out on Saturday.”
Diop's injury could free up a starting spot for Rowe who has not started since the team's season opener against FC Dallas on March 4. If Rowe is asked to step in net, Onalfo says that he’s ready to perform.
“He’s looked very good [in training],” Onalfo said. “He’s looked very good over the last three or four weeks so he’s ready to go.”
