Three things we learned from the LA Galaxy’s 3-1 win over New York Red Bulls presented by SNHU

HARRISON, N.J. – LA Galaxy Insider Adam Serrano provides his Three Things We Learned from the Galaxy’s 3-1 victory over New York Red Bulls presented by SNHU.

LA GALAXY FINALLY FIND THEIR GROOVE IN THE FIRST HALF

The LA Galaxy have been looking for a fast start all season, and they finally put it all together against the New York Red Bulls on Sunday.

Los Angeles jumped all over New York from the get-go as Romain Alessandrini notched a brace in the opening 10 minutes to give the Galaxy an early two-goal lead. Before Sunday’s win, the Galaxy had scored just three times in the first-half all season.

As the team looks to climb up the Western Conference standings after a slow start to the year, Curt Onalfo’s squad will need to have another strong start in next week’s clash away to Minnesota United.

GALAXY DEFENSE SHUTS DOWN RED BULLS VAUNTED ATTACK

The LA Galaxy attack came alive in the first half, but the team’s back four were the real standouts against the Red Bulls.

After going up early, the Galaxy weathered a high-pressing Red Bulls side that was desperate to find their way back into the match. Los Angeles were rock solid at the back all night, notching a whopping 28 clearances as they kept the Red Bulls at bay.

The Galaxy’s defensive dominance limited action for goalkeeper Brian Rowe who made just two saves in the win.

ROMAIN THE ROAD WARRIOR

Something about playing on the road seems to bring out the best in Romain Alessandrini.

Alessandrini kept up his impressive form away from StubHub Center with a brace against the Red Bulls to bring his total to five goals and two assists in four away matches. The Frenchman also won the penalty that Giovani dos Santos tucked away in the second half.

As the Galaxy prepare for three more road games to round out the month, Los Angeles will need many more performances from their talismanic French midfielder.
