Three things we learned from the LA Galaxy’s 2-1 win over Minnesota United | Presented by SNHU

MINNEAPOLIS – LA Galaxy Insider Adam Serrano provides his Three Things We Learned from the Galaxy’s 2-1 victory over Minnesota United presented by SNHU.

GIOVANI DOS SANTOS IS RED HOT

The LA Galaxy extended their unbeaten run to four games on Sunday in large part due to the continued fantastic form of Giovani dos Santos.

Dos Santos scored his third goal in as many games on Sunday to give Los Angeles all three points in their first-ever match against face Minnesota United. The 28-year-old Mexican international’s goal was one to remember as he sublimely finished a Romain Alessandrini with a world-class karate kick finish.

The Galaxy needed Dos Santos to step up after the season’s slow start, and the Mexican striker is has responded in fine fashion for Curt Onalfo’s squad.

RAFAEL GARCIA STEPS UP FOR INJURED BAGGIO HUSIDIC

Rafael Garcia made his presence felt in the middle of the park after filling in for the injured Baggio Husidic on Sunday in Minnesota.

After Husidic was forced to leave the match in opening minutes with a suspected broken leg, Garcia slotted in at the center of the park, playing a primarily defensive role alongside João Pedro. In his 82-minute shift, Garcia remained calm and collected, completing nearly 85 percent of his passes while making seven recoveries and five clearances to help the Galaxy keep the Loons at bay.

Given the severity of Husidic’s injury, Garcia could be in line for an extended run out in the midfield as the Galaxy’s road swing continues.

BRIAN ROWE SHINES AGAIN IN ROAD WIN

Brian Rowe potentially sealed his spot as the LA Galaxy’s No. 1 goalkeeper with another fantastic outing between the sticks in the Galaxy’s victory in Minnesota.

Rowe made four huge saves to give the Galaxy the win. The 29-year-old ‘keeper’s most jaw-dropping save came in the 56th minute when he made a brilliant left arm stop off a close-range Christian Ramirez chance.

Although Clement Diop is on his way back from injury, Rowe has earned his status as the team’s No. 1 goalkeeper after his showing on Sunday.
