Mexico booked their ticket to the Confederations Cup semifinals with a 2-1 victory over hosts Russia in Kazan.

Nestor Araujo and Hirving Lozano scored for El Tri while Alexander Samedov found the back of the net for the hosts. LA Galaxy striker Giovani dos Santos was an unused substitute in the match.

Mexico’s win and Portugal’s 4-0 victory over New Zealand gave Juan Carlos Osorio’s squad the second spot in Group A.
