Three things we learned from the LA Galaxy’s 6-2 loss to Real Salt Lake | Presented by SNHU

CARSON, Calif. – LA Galaxy Insider Adam Serrano provides his Three Things We Learned from the Galaxy’s 6-2 loss to Real Salt Lake presented by SNHU.

EFFORT SORELY LACKING IN LOSS

Following an embarrassing 6-2 defeat to Real Salt Lake, the LA Galaxy admitted that the team’s effort was sorely lacking on Tuesday.

The LA Galaxy have come back from a deficit to win or draw four times this year but the team collapsed in the second half against RSL. As Los Angeles tried to claw their way back in the game, the team’s defense became stretched allowing the space for Salt Lake’s attackers to add to their advantage.

After the match, midfielder Ema Boateng admitted that the team’s effort was simply “embarrassing.”

The Galaxy will now take a couple of days off as they turn their attentions to the U.S. Open Cup quarterfinal against the San Jose Earthquakes next Monday. LA will need to look in the mirror as the team looks to bounce back from a disappointing defeat.

GALAXY CONCEDE MOST GOALS EVER AT HOME

The LA Galaxy’s woeful home record this season hit a new low on Tuesday.

Los Angeles’ 6-2 defeat to Real Salt Lake was not only worst loss the team has ever suffered at home in club history, but also tied the record for most goals conceded at home, a record which dates back to the 2009 season. Curt Onalfo’s squad is now a disappointing 1-5-3 at StubHub Center this season.

Following the match, the Galaxy were unified in their thoughts that the team hit rock bottom on Tuesday. They’ll need to take a deep look in the mirror as they try to respond and turn their season around.

ROMAIN ALESSANDRINI MAKES HIS RETURN

Curt Onalfo received one bright spot on Saturday as he welcomed back Romain Alessandrini from injury.

Alessandrini missed the Galaxy’s defeat to the San Jose Earthquakes with a minor leg injury but was able to make his return for the team’s match with Salt Lake. Coming on as a second-half sub, Alessandrini was unable to generate much offense as LA were overrun by a rampant RSL squad.

Alessandrini’s return means that the Frenchman will undoubtedly be in contention to start for the Galaxy’s crucial U.S. Open Cup quarterfinal against the San Jose Earthquakes next Monday. Add in the likely return of Giovani dos Santos to the field later in the week and the Galaxy attack could be looking a lot better in the near future.
