Pele van Anholt believes joining the LA Galaxy is "a good step" in his career | INSIDER

CARSON, Calif. – New LA Galaxy signing Pele van Anholt is ready to begin his new adventure with the LA Galaxy.

The Galaxy announced the signing of the 26-year-old right-back on Wednesday on a free transfer. Van Anholt spent last season with Dutch club Willem II following six seasons with Heerenveen.

Signed to bolster the Galaxy’s depth at outside back, van Anholt is confident that he can show well with his new club.

“I spoke with the director of the LA Galaxy, and he told me positive things about the club. I knew LA is a big city and I think that it’ll be a good step for me,” he told LAGalaxy.com. “I talked with a lot of my friends, and everyone was positive about LA and LA Galaxy. I know some players like Ashley Cole and [Giovani] dos Santos. I think I can learn a lot here and hopefully; we can win a lot of games.”

Van Anholt will join the Galaxy first team in training on Thursday and could make his first appearance for the club on Saturday when they host Manchester United in an exhibition at StubHub Center.

“I’m excited to be a part of this club. It’s a big club, and I can’t wait to start,” van Anholt said. “I’m a team player, and I want to win every game. I’m fast, and I like to rush down the right side. I will show it.”
