Voting is open for August's LA Galaxy Goal of the Month competition presented by 76 Gas

CARSON, Calif. – The polls are now open for the LA Galaxy Goal of the Month competition presented by 76 Gas.

LA Galaxy Unified athlete Logan Jones, Ariel Lassiter, Galaxy Academy Arnold “Pavon” Castillo, Galaxy II midfielder Efrain Alvarez, and Ema Boateng have all been nominated for the award.


The winner will join Alvarez, Giovani dos Santos, Dave Romney, Justin Dhillon, and Jonathan Estrada as winners of the competition.


The five nominees are below:


LOGAN JONES vs. San Jose Earthquakes

LA Galaxy Special Olympics Unified athlete Logan Jones scored one of the greatest goals that you’ll ever see. In the closing moments of their 4-0 victory over San Jose Earthquakes, Jones fired a lash that curled into the top corner to secure the Galaxy’s third straight win. Logan Jones’ strike received national recognition after being selected for SportsCenter’s nightly Top 10 feature.


ARIEL LASSITER vs. Colorado Springs

The Goal Puppy returned to the scoresheet with a solid effort against Colorado Springs. Lassiter chested down a well-placed cross field pass before maneuvering by a defender to fire a shot into the lower corner.


ARNOLD “PAVON” CASTILLO vs. Atlanta United FC

Galaxy Academy talent Arnold Castillo showcased his talents with a brilliant individual finish in the team’s recent clash with Atlanta United FC down in Mexico. After a teammate stripped an Atlanta attacker at midfield, the ball was dished to Castillo who sprinted down the left flank. The attacker effortlessly got past a defender before nutmegging the goalkeeper for the goal.


EFRAIN ALVAREZ vs. Pachuca

LA Galaxy Academy star Efrain Alvarez produced another highlight-reel tally during the team’s recent competition in Mexico. In a match against Mexican giants Pachuca, Alvarez curled in an impressive shot past the goalkeeper into the top corner.


EMA BOATENG vs. Portland Timbers

Ema Boateng bagged his third goal of the season with a top-class finish against the Portland Timbers. Midfielder João Pedro delivered a brilliant throughball that sliced through the Portland defense to Boateng. With the ball at his feet, the 23-year-old midfielder blew past the Timbers and placed a left-footed shot into the back of the net.
