LA Galaxy Foundation to Co-Host Street Soccer USA Los Angeles Cup October 14th

The LA Galaxy Foundation has teamed up with Street Soccer USA to host the Street Soccer USA Los Angeles Cup at LA Live on Saturday, Oct. 14. The Street Soccer USA Los Angeles Cup is a celebration designed to raise awareness for and to fuel the growth of Street Soccer USA and the LA Galaxy Foundation’s social change programming in Los Angeles. The Street Soccer USA Los Angeles Cup will take place from 9 a.m. – 10 p.m. PT.

The LA edition of the Cup Series will have space for 32 teams from the Los Angeles region to compete for the street soccer city championship of LA in a pop-up Street Soccer USA Stadium in LA Live. Each team member will receive a custom jersey, with the tournament’s winning team being recognized during the LA Galaxy’s match Oct. 15 against Minnesota United at StubHub Center.

The Street Soccer USA Cup Series brings together youth, co-ed, adult and corporate soccer teams to compete in action-packed 15-minute, 4v4 championship play in front of thousands of fans. Proceeds from the Street Soccer USA Cup Series fund our soccer for social change programs, as well as the installation of permanent fields for underserved kids to play at throughout the year.

In addition to LA Live in Los Angeles, the Street Soccer USA Cup Series is confirmed to take place in some of the major tourist centers in the country: Times Square in New York, Union Square in San Francisco, Art Museum Steps in Philadelphia.

Los Angeles City Council President Herb Wesson and the LA84 Foundation are supporting the launch of Street Soccer USA’s pilot program in Los Angeles. Street Soccer USA's Street Soccer LA Pilot Program creates front-end engagement through community soccer clubs targeting the least-served youth and young adults in Los Angeles, including homeless youth, who are expected to be one-third of the program’s participants. Street Soccer USA's first on-the-ground program partner is Children's Institute, Inc.
