Lineup notes


  • With just three games left in the MLS Regular Season, the Galaxy return to StubHub Center Saturday night after three-straight road games.
  • Head Coach Sigi Schmid, the winningest coach in MLS history, will coach his 12th contest since taking over as head coach. He will make three changes to the starting XI from Wednesday’s match as Michael Ciani and Emmanuel Boateng will get the start in place of Hugo Arellano and Rafael Garcia.
  • In net, French goalkeeper Clement Diop will continue in net with his third-straight start as Sigi Schmid evaluates all of his options at goalkeeper. Diop has a knack for big saves and is looking to find consistency in net after years of success in USL.
  • At right back, Sigi Schmid Gyasi Zardes continues defense with this third-straight start along the backline. With just three games left in the year, Schmid again relies on Zardes on the back line.
  • In the center of defense, Dave Romney will again get the start, his 21st of the season. Romney was the Galaxy’s first-ever signing from LA Galaxy II and has become a valuable member along the defense.
  • Moving back into the lineup is French defender Michael Ciani, who continues to gain fitness after joining the Galaxy just weeks ago. Ciani will make the start after sitting out Wednesday’s game against Houston.
  • On the left side, Ashley Cole will make his 27th start of the season after another solid year. The 36 year old still shows his class each game.
  • Out wide on the right is Frenchman Romain Alessandrini, who is coming off of a great performance in Houston. Romain now has 11 goals and 10 assists on the year, leading LA in both categories.
  • In the center of the field, Jermaine Jones will captain the side after a strong performance on Wednesday in Houston. Jones has been disciplined under Schmid and helped the Galaxy in the center of the field.
  • Alongside Jones, Jonathan dos Santos makes his ninth start of the year since joining LA in the summer transfer window. Dos Santos continues to show his class as one of the most talented central midfielders in MLS.
  • Out wide on the left, he’s small, he’s fast, he’s fast and he’s fast. Emmanuel Boateng makes his 27th start of the season. He will be the fastest player on the field Saturday night.
  • Up top, coming off one of his best performances of the year, Bradford Jamieson IV, the talented young LA Galaxy Homegrown Player, will make the start. Jamieson has earned the trust of Schmid and put in a good showing on Wednesday.
  • Up top, Giovani dos Santos will lead the Galaxy’s attack after. Dos Santos was influential in the team’s offensive performance on Wednesday, notching on assist on BJIV’s goal.

  • The Galaxy have squared off against Real Salt Lake twice this season, once home and once away.
  • They earned a 2-1 win against Salt Lake at Rio Tinto Stadium behind a two-assist performance from Alessandrini.
  • On July 4 at StubHub Center, Real Salt Lake got their revenge with a 6-2 win.
  • LA are 14-12-8 against Real Salt Lake in regular season competitions all-time.
  • In matches at home, the Galaxy are 10-6-1 against RSL.
  • The Galaxy are 5-1-2 when scoring the first goal this season and 5-2-2 when leading the game at halftime.
    • Conversely, LA have gone 2-16-2 when conceding first and are 1-12-1 in matches when trailing at the half.
