LA Galaxy sign goalkeeper David Bingham

The LA Galaxy have signed 28-year-old David Bingham, the club announced today. The Galaxy sign Bingham after acquiring his rights from San Jose Earthquakes on Dec. 18, 2017 in exchange for $100,000 in General Allocation Money (GAM) and $100,000 in Targeted Allocation Money (TAM). The 2016 MLS All-Star selection played seven seasons with the San Jose Earthquakes, recording 27 shutouts and 288 saves in 95 starts while earning a 1.24 goals-against average (GAA) throughout his career.


“David is a reliable option for us in goal and we’re excited to add him to the roster,” said LA Galaxy Head Coach Sigi Schmid. “He brings a wealth of MLS experience and we believe he is a player that will be part of our success in 2018."

Bingham signed with MLS as a Generation adidas player following the 2011 MLS SuperDraft before landing in San Jose after a weighted lottery on Jan. 26, 2011. He spent a brief period on loan with Norwegian side Strømmen IF in 2014 before earning a starting position with the Earthquakes in 2015. In two consecutive seasons, Bingham started all 34 games in net for San Jose, finishing both years among the league’s best in various categories. In 2015, he broke Pat Onstad’s club record with 12 shutouts in a single-season and earned MLS All-Star honors in 2016.


Internationally, Bingham has earned three caps with the U.S. Men’s National Team, making his debut in a 1-0 shutout victory over Canada on Feb. 6, 2016 at StubHub Center. He also made appearances in friendly contests against New Zealand and Jamaica.
