Jonathan dos Santos hoping to make his World Cup dream a reality in Russia

CARSON, Calif. – Jonathan dos Santos is hopeful he’ll get to realize his long-awaited World Cup dream this summer.

The LA Galaxy midfielder was named to Mexico’s preliminary roster for the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Monday by El Tri head coach Juan Carlos Osorio. Dos Santos is seeking to make his first-ever appearance in the world’s showpiece professional sports tournament.

Also named to the roster is Jonathan’s older brother and Galaxy teammate Giovani who is seeking his third appearance in a World Cup. After missing out on a World Cup place in 2010 and 2014, Jonathan is determined to make an impact in Russia.

“For me, I want to continue growing as a player and as a person. I have never been in a World Cup before, and for me, it’s a dream,” dos Santos told LAGalaxy.com earlier this year. “I want to enjoy it, but I also want to go into the tournament with a winning mentality and help us change the team’s history.”
