LA Galaxy face off LAFC on Friday at sold-out StubHub Center | Weekly Schedule

LOS ANGELES (Monday, Aug. 20, 2018) – The LA Galaxy (10-9-7, 37 points) return to StubHub Center to host LAFC (12-7-6, 42 points) at 7:30 p.m. PT on Friday, Aug. 24. The match will be broadcast live on ESPN and ESPN Deportes.

Friday’s contest against LAFC will mark the third meeting in history between the two teams and the second at StubHub Center. The LA Galaxy have earned results in both matchups. In the first contest, the LA Galaxy defeated LAFC in a 4-3 comeback win at home on March 31 at StubHub Center. Zlatan Ibrahimović made his LA Galaxy debut, scoring two goals, one of which secured the victory for the Galaxy. Sebastian Lletget and Chris Pontius also contributed to the scoreline.

Just like the first match, LA Galaxy made a dramatic comeback to secure a result at Banc of California Stadium on July 26. Romain Alessandrini put the Galaxy within one after scoring a late goal in the 82^nd minute with help from Ibrahimović. Four minutes later, Ola Kamara scored the equalizing goal and the Galaxy walked away with one point.

The #Zlatan500 watch remains in effect. Ibrahimović is just two goals shy of 500 goals for club and country, a feat achieved only by two active players in world soccer: Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

In the Galaxy’s last contest at StubHub Center on Aug. 14, they secured a 2-2 draw against Colorado Rapids FC. Galaxy’s captain, Ashley Cole, scored his first goal of the 2018 season against the Rapids. Sebastian Lletget also recorded a goal in the contest, his second after returning from injury. The Galaxy are 6-4-3 at home in 2018.
