Match Preview: LA Galaxy II look for back-to-back wins as they head to Las Vegas

LA Galaxy II (8-13-6, 30 points) will look to string together another win as they hit the road to face Las Vegas Lights FC (7-13-6, 27 points) at 8 p.m. PT on Saturday, Sept. 8, at Cashman Field. The match will be broadcast live on ESPN+.

LA Galaxy II will look to carry the momentum from their last match against Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC to Saturday’s game. A brace from Ariel Lassiter and a goal from defender Tomas Hilliard-Arce secured a 3-1 victory over the Switchbacks at StubHub Center Track & Field Stadium. These goals bring Galaxy II’s impressive tally of goals recorded this season to 47, which is the fourth highest in the USL Western Conference and gives them the highest goal conversion rate in their conference.

Los Dos sit 13th in the USL Western Conference standings, just five spots away from playoff contention. Las Vegas Lights FC sit close behind LA Galaxy II in 14th place.

Las Vegas Lights FC have faced some difficult opponents, securing only one point in five matches. Most recently, Las Vegas were unable to find a result on the road against Reno 1868 FC. After scoring a late goal in stoppage time, Reno FC were able to secure all three points. The Lights will return home to Cashman Field to host Los Dos where they have gone 5-3-4 this season.

This will be Los Dos’ second time competing against Las Vegas FC this season. On May 26, the Galaxy found a massive result against the Lights with a 7-2 victory at home. In that match, Ethan Zubak recorded his second hat trick of the season in just eight minutes, becoming the fastest hat trick in USL history. Zubak picked up another goal to set a new LA Galaxy II single-game record for goals.

LAST MATCH
LA Galaxy II 3 | Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC 1: LA Galaxy II offensively dominated the first 45 minutes, with all three goals coming before halftime. The Switchbacks were only able to break through Los Dos’ defenses once, so the Galaxy held onto all three points.

Reno 1868 FC 2 | Las Vegas Lights FC 1: After going down a goal early in the first half, Las Vegas FC battled their way back to find an equalizing goal. However, it was not enough as Reno scored a late goal in stoppage team to secure the win.
