VOTE NOW: LA Galaxy Goal of the Year presented by Rocket League

LOS ANGELES -- Voting is now open for the LA Galaxy Goal of the Year presented by Rocket League. 


A total of 11 goals from 2018 have been selected for the annual honor that crowns the greatest Galaxy goal of the year. This year, goals by the LA Galaxy first team, Galaxy II, and the club's academy have been nominated. 


Voting will run until Dec. 31 with the winner crowned on January 1, 2019. 


The nominees are below:

ZLATAN IBRAHIMOVIĆ vs. LAFC

The LA Galaxy’s sensational Swede scored one of the most beautiful goals of his illustrious career in his club debut. Ibrahimović helped the Galaxy equalize in dramatic fashion with his blast from 40 yards which curled over helpless LAFC goalkeeper Tyler Miller.


EFRAIN ALVAREZ vs. PORTLAND TIMBERS 2

Efrain Alvarez has taken the American soccer community by storm and his tally against T2 was just the latest sublime finish from the East L.A. native. Alvarez’s finish was a beauty as he unleashed a curling strike that slid past the goalkeeper for his second goal of the evening.


OLA KAMARA vs. HOUSTON DYNAMO

Zlatan Ibrahimović sparked one of the team’s finest goals of the year as he fed Giovani dos Santos on the wing before the Mexican striker found Ola Kamara. The Norwegian striker finished it from there with an impressive off-balance goal.


EFRAIN ALVAREZ vs. LAS VEGAS LIGHTS

Efrain Alvarez scored one of the most acrobatic goals of the campaign in Los Dos’ win over the Las Vegas Lights. The goal was sparked by an Ari Lassiter chip as he played to Alvarez who chested it down onto his left foot for the impressive finish.


ASHLEY COLE vs. COLORADO RAPIDS

 The LA Galaxy defender scored a beautiful individual effort in the team’s 2-2 draw when he dribbled past two defenders and fired a beautiful left-footed shot into the back of the net for the finish.


EDDIE CALDERON vs. BSTC U11

Take a bow, Eddie Calderon. The LA Galaxy Under-11 forward scored an insane finish in his squad’s match against a Brazilian side early this month. The 11-year-old’s goal was simply audacious as he completed a remarkable bicycle kick to put his squad on the board.


JONATHAN DOS SANTOS vs. REAL SALT LAKE

Jonathan dos Santos helped the LA Galaxy get on the board early against Real Salt Lake. The Galaxy scored just seconds into the match after Ashley Cole found dos Santos who smashed a right-footed volley into the back of the net.


ADRIEL ROCHA vs. LAFC U-14’s

Adriel Rocha helped the LA Galaxy U-14’s defeat their LAFC counterparts. Rocha’s tally was the product of an incredible team display from the U-14’s as the squad won the ball deep in their own end and then relied on a few quick passes to find Rocha who curled a left-footed shot into the top corner.


ZLATAN IBRAHIMOVIC vs. TORONTO FC

A goal for the ages. Zlatan’s 500th goal was simply out of this world as he scored a completed a spinning volley to put the Galaxy on the board. 


ARIEL LASSITER vs. FC GOLDEN STATE FORCE

Ariel Lassiter put the exclamation point on the LA Galaxy’s win over. FC Golden State Force with an acrobatic finish to send the Galaxy through in the next round of the U.S. Open Cup.


ROMAIN ALESSANDRINI vs. MINNESOTA UNITED

Romain Alessandrini tallied a remarkable volley in the Galaxy’s win over the Loons in October. Ibrahimović found Alessandrini and the Frenchman buried it into the back of the net.
