Starting XI presented by Modelo: New York Red Bulls vs. LA Galaxy | May 4, 2019 -

Lineup Notes

  • On his birthday,  Guillermo Barros Schelotto will trot out the same lineup from last week's 2-1 home win against Real Salt Lake.
  • Goalkeeper David Bingham starts his 44th straight game in the net since joining the Galaxy. . Bingham has allowed just two goals – one a penalty – in his previous five contests.
  • Rolf Feltscher is back for a second straight match since returning from injury, as his missed the Galaxy's matches against Philadelphia and Minnesota.
  • In the center is Daniel Steres, who has made 81 appearances during his time with the club since signing from LA Galaxy II after the 2015 season. He is one of three players to have started every game for the Galaxy this season (Uriel Antuna, Jonathan dos Santos).
  • Alongside Steres is the Uruguayan and horse-riding/goal-scoring Diego Polenta, who makes his ninth start of the season. Polenta played a key role in both goals last week, assisting on the first and pushing the team forward for the second.
  • Out wide on the left is Frenchman Diedie Traore, who returns to the lineup after making his first MLS start last week. The youngster made history when he signed a professional contract with Galaxy II last year, making him the first-ever to sign professionally after being selected via the LA Galaxy II Tryouts.
  • In the center of the midfield is Mexican international Jonathan dos Santos, back after an MLS Team of the Week performance last week. Dos Santos controls the tempo for LA - a good game for Dos Santos is a good game for the Galaxy.
  • Making his ninth-straight start of 2019 is midfielder Sebastian Lletget, who will make the 73rd start of his MLS career. In all, he has 12 goals and 13 assists. He assisted Zlatan Ibrahimović in last week's game-winning goal.
  • Completing the midfield mix is Joe Corona, the 28-year-old U.S. Men’s National team veteran who was signed to the Galaxy through the use of Target Allocation Money on March 6. Corona also makes his ninth start in MLS this season.
  • On the left will be the young and the speedy Mexican international Uriel Antuna. The Manchester City loan has started every game this season and scored his first LA Galaxy goal last week against Real Salt Lake.
  • On the right, the MLS veteran Chris Pontius gets the nod. Pontius has 51 goals and 36 assists in all during his time in MLS, amassing 248 appearances. He assisted Antuna's goal last week.
  • Up top is Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who has great soccer resume. Ibrahimović has eight goals in seven games this season, half of which are game-winning goals.

Game Notes:

  • Against New York all-time, LA have gone 17-19-8. New York are one of the few MLS teams to have an all-time advantage against the Galaxy.
  • LA’s eight goals conceded is tied for the fewest in MLS.
  • The Galaxy are 6-0-0 this season when scoring the game’s opening goal, and 1-1-0 when conceding first.
  • When leading at halftime, LA are 4-0-0. They are 3-1-0 when tied at halftime.

Storylines:

  • Happy Birthday Guillermo and Gustavo! I'm still not sure who's older.
  • Can the LA Galaxy continue one of the hottest starts in club history?
  • Can the Galaxy prove their strength on the road?
  • Will Zlatan turn in an unforgettable performance on the national stage?
