CARSON, Calif. – You just never know who’s going to show up to a family reunion and the Galaxy Family Reunion is no different.
But rather than invite aunt Sandra or uncle Charles or cousin Jonathan, a list of Galaxy alums with sterling resumes look set to be coming to StubHub Center for Sunday’s alumni match against the LA Galaxy Academy Under-18 team.
Recently retired legendary former Galaxy goalkeeper Kevin Hartman, who backstopped the Galaxy to two MLS Cups during his tenure with the club, headlines the list. Also returning to the fold is longtime Galaxy playmaker Mauricio Cienfuegos, midfielder Peter Vagenas, defender Alexi Lalas, and the club’s all-time appearance leader Cobi Jones.
There will be several other exciting inclusions like Galaxy technical director Jovan Kirovski, club President Chris Klein, LA assistant coach Pat Noonan and goalkeeper coach Matt Reis. The addition of Reis reunites him with Hartman after the Galaxy goalkeeper served as Hartman's backup for the 2002 MLS Cup. The two goalkeepers also competed against one another in the 2005 MLS Cup.
Following the alumni match, the LA Galaxy will take to the pitch against the Philadelphia Union in a match presented by M&M’s and closing out the night will be LA Galaxy II with a USL PRO match against OKC Energy FC at 8 p.m.
