CARSON, Calif. (Friday, Aug. 15, 2014) – LA Galaxy II (12-7-4, 40 points) will travel to face Oklahoma City Energy FC (8-10-5, 29 points) at Pribil Stadium Saturday, Aug. 16 in Week 22 of USL PRO action, with kickoff set for 5:00 p.m. PT live on www.lagalaxy.com.
The match marks the fourth and final time Los Dos will face off against Oklahoma in USL PRO play, with Galaxy II winning all three previous matches. Led by head coach and former Sporting KC goalkeeper Jimmy Nielsen, OKC Energy FC are currently in ninth place in the USL PRO standings.
In the most recent meeting between LA Galaxy II and OKC Energy FC, a late goal from LA Galaxy Homegrown Player Raul Mendiola was enough to give Los Dos a 1-0 victory on the road at Pribil Stadium.
On May 25, Los Dos dominated Oklahoma City, recording a 5-0 victory at StubHub Center as Chandler Hoffman and Bradford Jamieson IV both scored two goals and Jack McBean notched his first goal of the year. Hoffman scored the opening two goals in the first half and the Galaxy finished the game off in the second period as Jamieson IV added two more before McBean capped it off with the fifth of the evening.
In their first encounter this year, LA Galaxy II came from behind to record a 4-2 victory over Energy FC on April 7 at the StubHub Center Track and Field Stadium. A goal from Peabo Doue put Energy FC ahead in the 8th minute, but Daniel Steres, Laurent Courtois, Chandler Hoffman and Aleksandar Dovoic each scored for LA to give Los Dos a commanding win.
Following the match against Oklahoma City Energy FC, Curt Onalfo’s will return to StubHub Center to take on Wilmington Hammerheads FC Sunday, Aug. 24 at 12 p.m. PT.
