CARSON, Calif. (Friday, Sept. 11 2015) – The LA Galaxy announced today the addition of Carlsbad United FC to the LA Galaxy Alliance Club Program. The LA Galaxy Alliance Club Program is an extensive soccer development initiative for youth clubs that gives its members the best resources to reach their soccer and community potential.

Carlsbad United FC becomes the fourth club in the LA Galaxy Alliance program, joining LA Galaxy South Bay, LA Galaxy Conejo Valley and LA Galaxy Bakersfield.

“The Galaxy continue to play a significant role in the development of the most talented youth players and coaches throughout Southern California,” said Jovan Kirovski, Technical Director of the LA Galaxy. “Committing to the development of youth soccer is extremely important and we are excited to continue to invest in the improvement of coaches and players across the country. Adding Carlsbad United FC demonstrates the value of our Alliance Program in reaching and engaging with youth teams across our region.”

The Galaxy’s newest Alliance club member was the home of Galaxy Academy product Rey Ortiz, who signed with LA Galaxy Academy in 2014, where he went on to lead the LA Galaxy Academy Under-16 team to the U.S. Soccer 2013-2014 Development Academy Championship. This season, Ortiz earned his first professional minutes when he appeared for LA Galaxy II in the United Soccer League (USL). Prior to joining the Galaxy Academy, Ortiz was with Carlsbad United for seven years.

The LA Galaxy create unique working relationships with each Alliance club to encompass community programs, technical development, scouting, coaching, and soccer operations, giving the youth soccer community an unprecedented level of access to professional soccer expertise and involvement.

The Galaxy also share coaching and organizational resources, creating a common curriculum and methodology for developing young players, ensuring the Alliance Clubs are central to integrating players into the Academy and preparing players for college soccer.

Additionally, youth clubs in the program will be allowed the unique privilege of incorporating the LA Galaxy brand into their club name and wear the same color uniforms – navy, white and gold – in recognition of their partnership with the LA Galaxy.
Each LA Galaxy Alliance Club is chosen based on its strong quality of players, dedicated coaching staff and commitment to the community.
