Match Preview: LA Galaxy II face OC Blues FC Saturday in USL Playoffs

CARSON, Calif. (Friday, Oct. 2, 2015) – LA Galaxy II will face Orange County Blues FC this Saturday, Oct. 3 at 7:30 p.m. PT at StubHub Center’s Track & Field Stadium in the USL Western Conference Semifinals. The match will be streamed live on www.lagalaxy.com with www.soccerfun.biz founder Chris Thomas and two-time MLS Cup winning goalkeeper & former USMNT international Zach Wells calling the action from the booth.



Fans can purchase tickets for just $10 by clicking here or by calling 1-877-3GALAXY. Fans can also purchase tickets at the StubHub Center box office during the week or through walk up on Saturday. The match Saturday night will feature $2 tacos from Chancho’s Tacos and $2 beer in addition to free entry for fans ages 12 and under.


“We’re pleased to get the result against Sacramento, but now we’re expecting a challenge against Orange County,” said Galaxy II defender Joe Franco. “We know each other very well, but we know that if we take care of our business and finish our chances than we’re going to win.”


Free parking for fans attending the LA Galaxy II match will only be available in Lot 16 through Gate I due to StubHub Center hosting an event Saturday. The Gate I entrance is located off of University Drive, which can be accessed off of Avalon Blvd or Central Ave. For a map of StubHub Center’s parking and gate entry, visit www.lagalaxy.com/stadium/parking. “We know that we’re playing at home against Orange County, but this is a really good team. The pressure is on them because they are regular season champions,” said Los Dos goalkeeper Clement Diop. “We know that we need to win to go to the [conference] final. We’re all focused on that, and we know that we need to have a big performance to beat Orange County in front of our fans.”


The match was moved to StubHub Center’s Track and Field Stadium due to availability issues with the Blues’ home venue of Anteater Stadium at UCI.


LA Galaxy II advanced to the Western Conference Semifinals following a 1-0 road win over Sacramento Republic FC last weekend. Bryan Olivera buried a first-half penalty kick after Jack McBean earned a foul inside the 18 at Bonney Field.


Los Dos face their Southern California rivals for the fifth time this season, with LA Galaxy II going 2-1-1 in the previous four matchups. Orange County, the top seed in the Western Conference, finished the USL Regular Season 14-9-5 with 47 points. They were led in goals by Christofer Ramirez with eight during the season.


Curt Onalfo’s side finished the USL Regular Season in fifth place in Western Conference standings with a 14-11-3 record to qualify for the USL Playoffs for the second-straight year. During the regular season, the team was led in goals by Ariel Lassiter with 11 on the season, with fellow forward Jack McBean adding an additional six goals and five assists this year.
