A.J. DeLaGarza expecting to undergo surgery to repair groin injury | INSIDER

CARSON, Calif. -- A.J. DeLaGarza is expecting to go under the knife to correct a groin issue that has hindered him for five months, the defender confirmed to reporters on Friday.

DeLaGarza endured one of his most frustrating seasons on the field in 2015, missing 10 games due to injury. After the Galaxy saw their season end against Seattle earlier this week, DeLaGarza admitted that he'll be using the offseason to recover.

"I've been hurt since the second week of preseason," he said. "Hopefully, I can use this time to get better. My groin has been bothering me for about five months."

As for when the procedure will take place, DeLaGarza says that is still very much up in the air.

"I've got international duty, and I'm trying to see if I'll be ready for next year," said DeLaGarza. "If there is any jeopardizing playing in Champions League, then I'll go in right away. I'll get whatever done soon. We've got to figure that out."
