Bruce Arena raves about new LA Galaxy signing Clement Diop | INSIDER

CARSON, Calif. -- The LA Galaxy bolstered their goalkeeping corps on Wednesday with the signing of 21-year-old French goalkeeper Clement Diop from USL affiliate LA Galaxy II.

Diop joins the first team after a banner first season with Los Dos where he made 24 appearances while keeping eight shutouts as Galaxy II marched to the USL Championship game. After signing the Frenchman on Wednesday, Galaxy head coach and general manager Bruce Arena spoke highly of the young goalkeeper.

"He’s a young goalkeeper with a lot of athletic ability. He needs to improve his technique and his feet a little bit. I think that he’s a tremendous shot blocker, he’s courageous and unbelievably athletic," Arena told LA Galaxy Insider. "He’s also very young as well. He’s got the potential to be a very good goalkeeper. He’s going to have the opportunity to be with us for the year as well as play with Galaxy II so he’ll benefit from that."
