USL terminates ownership of the Rochester Rhinos

What’s next for the team that defeated LA Galaxy II in the 2016 USL Championship?

The USL today announced the termination of the Adirondack Sports Club’s ownership of the Rochester Rhinos for failing to meet USL standards

According to a press release, the USL had been working with Adirondack Sports Club over several months to rectify failures to meet USL standards, concerning both internal and external operational issues. In recent days the current ownership stated they were not committed to rectify these issues, and with the long-term operation of the franchise in mind, the league made the decision to step in.

The league is currently operating the franchise, and has retained all staff and personnel as it moves forward toward the 2016 USL season.

“On behalf of the USL, I am going to take every step possible to maintain the Rhinos’ position in Rochester’s sporting landscape,” USL CMO Tom Veit said. “The Rhinos are open for business, and looking forward to defending their USL Championship in 2016.”
