CARSON, Calif. -- Nigel de Jong seems destined for the LA Galaxy.
The Los Angeles Times reported on Tuesday that the Galaxy have secured the signature of the Dutch international midfielder to accompany the signings of Jelle Van Damme and Ashley Cole. The Times' Kevin Baxter spoke to De Jong, and outlined the legwork that it took the Galaxy to sign the three players this offseason in this piece for the newspaper.
"It was in the back of my mind that I wanted to play in the United States and specifically in the MLS," De Jong said to Baxter by phone from Milan. "This was the perfect opportunity to come now when I'm still fit. So that made me decide just to come over and play for a huge club like the Galaxy."
