CARSON, Calif. (Thursday, Feb. 18, 2016) – The LA Galaxy announced today that Whole Foods Market Torrance will host their “5% Day” on Thursday, Feb. 25, in support of the LA Galaxy Foundation. When customers shop at Whole Foods Market in Torrance on Thursday, Feb. 25, the store will donate five percent of the day’s net sales to the LA Galaxy Foundation.
“At Whole Foods Market, we are active participants in our community. We are extremely proud of our community involvement and the relationships we build every day. Our Community Giving Days are one meaningful way we give back to our community. On designated days each quarter, a total of 5 percent of the day’s net sales are donated to local non-profit organizations,” said Alice Wong, metro marketing field team leader, Whole Foods Market. “Shoppers can help support selected organizations just by shopping on Feb. 25.”
In support of the event, LA Galaxy players and the LA Galaxy Star Squad will be in attendance to sign autographs and take pictures with customers. Whole Foods Market Torrance (2655 Pacific Coast Hwy.) will be open from 8 a.m. – 10 p.m. PT on Feb. 25.
In anticipation of the event, on Saturday, Feb. 20, the LA Galaxy Foundation and Star Squad will be at Whole Foods Market Torrance on Saturday Feb. 20 to promote 5% Day and speak to the Foundation’s mission and initiatives.
Following the Whole Foods Market Torrance Community Giving Day, the LA Galaxy Foundation will be hosting an American Red Cross Blood Drive on Friday, Feb. 26, in support of Red Cross Month in March. The drive will be held at the American Red Cross Blood Donation Center in Torrance (2814 Sepulveda Blvd). The LA Galaxy Foundation completed the first Foundation Fridays’ event in January as LA Galaxy staff joined DaVinci Schools to participate in a Community Paint Day at Hawthorne Memorial Park. LA Galaxy players, Steven Gerrard, Gyasi Zardes, A.J. DeLaGarza, Baggio Husidic, and Dan Gargan, were on hand to help beautify Hawthorne Memorial Park and open new soccer courts for the community.
