Jelle Van Damme ready to return to the lineup after missing D.C. United match with an injury | INSIDER

CARSON, Calif. -- Jelle Van Damme is likely to return to the fold for Saturday's match against the Colorado Rapids.

The Belgian defender missed out on last week's 4-1 victory with an ankle injury, forcing Daniel Steres into the starting lineup. After starting both CONCACAF Champions League matches against Santos Laguna, Van Damme expects to regain his starting role against Colorado.

"I'm back on the training field, and I'm fine. I did it two days before the Santos game [in Torreon]. It wasn't a good call of mine, but that's the way that I am because I want to play in every game," Van Damme said. "I played on it for 65 minutes, and I didn't have my best game. I took it easy for a few games, but now I'm back with the team. It feels good. I'm ready."

Galaxy head coach Bruce Arena confirmed that Jelle Van Damme is back in full training. If Van Damme gets the start, he'll be playing at altitude for the first time in his professional career. Although the Colorado altitude can be difficult for internationals to handle, Van Damme thinks that he'll get through the game without much an issue.

"That's all in the mind. If you're ready for it in your mind, it shouldn't be a problem," Van Damme said. "It's all my first time, but I think it's a mental case. If your head is fine, then you'll be okay."
