Curt Onalfo speaks after LA Galaxy II's 2-0 victory over Arizona United SC | INSIDER

CARSON, Calif. -- LA Galaxy II head coach Curt Onalfo spoke to reporters following Los Dos' 2-0 victory over Arizona United SC on Saturday.

(On the match...)

"I thought we started the game well. Put them under a lot of pressure. We had a very fast team on the field. I thought they fouled the crap out of us. We put ourselves up 2-0. I would’ve liked to get the third because I think we could’ve just made it a little easier on ourselves. But inevitably when you have young players, it’s never easy. But I thought there was some really - some good soccer in the first half. And then in the second half, you knew they were going to come out with more energy because they were pissed off their down 2-0 and we had the better of them in the first half. And to their credit they scratched back in, I thought we were lax in concentration, and a little bit of the momentum went with them. And then obviously with the red card now it’s a totally different animal. Now you just have to defend, get on your blocks, and look to counter. And I thought our guys showed a little maturity there. We could’ve done a little better moving the ball, the guys off the bench helped, so overall I was pleased with the first performance."

(On Ari Lassiter's performance...)

“The kid just gets better and better every day. It’s enjoyable to watch.”

(On Oscar Sorto's red card...)

"From the angle that I had, I need to see the film to make a better assessment. These things happen, and how you deal with it, I thought we played very well."

(On the play of the defense...)

"It was a collective effort at the end. I think our captain Jack McBean really led us through all this with his fight and his intelligence to help us get the win. Then it was just kind of all the way through the team. Everyone put in a really hard shift."

(On the play of Nathan Smith...)

"Did well. I don't like talking too much about individual players, but he did a solid job. As the game went on, he got better and better. He's a really good competitor; he's another homegrown player that we've been tracking. He's young and has a future. We have to show him some instances where he can do a little better, but he's done a good job."
