Three things we learned from the LA Galaxy’s 4-2 win over the New England Revolution

CARSON, Calif. – LA Galaxy Insider Adam Serrano provides his “Three Things We Learned” from the Galaxy’s 4-2 win over the New England Revolution.

THE KING RETURNS

Robbie Keane is back, ladies and gentlemen.

The 35-year-old forward scored two goals in 60 minutes of action during Sunday’s victory over the New England Revolution in his first action since March. Gyasi Zardes assisted on both of Keane’s goals as the Irishman found the back of the net after lurking on the far post.

Expect Keane to once again return to the lineup on Wednesday when the Galaxy travel east to take on the Philadelphia Union. The next couple of games will be critical for the Irishman, who will be determined to head into the Republic of Ireland’s participation at Euro 2016 in full form.

GIOVANI DOS SANTOS IS VERY GOOD AT SOCCER

We’re running out of ways to praise the current run of form that is Giovani dos Santos.

Dos Santos scored in his fourth consecutive match, as the Galaxy defeated the Revolution to extend their unbeaten run to seven games. With his tally, the 26-year-old Mexican forward now leads the Galaxy in goals scored this season with five on the year.

The talented Mexican striker has become no stranger to beautiful goals as of late, but his finish against New England may be one of his best as he scored off a thundering volley in the 24th minute of play.

LA GALAXY FORCED TO HOLD ON AFTER FIRST HALF FLURRY

The New England Revolution nearly staged an epic comeback against the LA Galaxy, but the home side held on by their teeth to earn a 4-2 win at StubHub Center.

With the Galaxy ahead by three, New England exploited holes in the home side’s defense in quick succession as the Revolution scored twice in four minutes to claw their way back into the match. As the half wore on, the Revs pressed the Galaxy back line which caught a break when Jose Goncalves went out with an apparent shoulder injury, forcing the visitors to play the remaining minutes down to 10 men.

Los Angeles needed a little luck to preserve the result as Agudelo saw a dangerous shot rattle the crossbar in the 83rd minute. Ultimately, however, it was up to the veteran presence of Steven Gerrard who scored in the closing moments to give the Galaxy the cushion needed to complete the match.
