LA Galaxy owe home success in Cali Clásico to "hate" of San Jose Earthquakes | INSIDER

CARSON, Calif. – The LA Galaxy have utterly dominated the San Jose Earthquakes in recent years at StubHub Center.

The Galaxy are undefeated at StubHub Center against their Northern California rivals since the 2012 campaign.

Los Angeles hold a 3-0-2 record in home Cali Clásico matches, scoring a whopping 13 goals on the Quakes while conceding only five. Their last loss came in the 2012 Western Conference Semifinal first leg in a series ultimately won by the Galaxy.

As for why the Galaxy are so successful at home against their rivals in recent years, defender A.J. DeLaGarza owes all the motivation to the team’s loyal supporters—and the team's hatred of the Earthquakes.

â€śWhen San Jose comes here, we know that our fans get up for it and how passionate they are for this game. We know how crazy the games can be, and we make sure to come prepared,” DeLaGarza said. “When you play a rival, it's usually a team you really hate and I really hate San Jose.”

Forward Mike Magee agrees completely.

“In this league, you see a lot of pretend rivalries and ones that are made up, but to my knowledge, this one developed through games, actual fights, and play on the field,” Magee said. “It wasn’t made up by media people or anything like that. It’s got the real feel of a rivalry.”
