MONTREAL – Ashley Cole knows that the LA Galaxy are in for a battle on Saturday when they match up against Didier Drogba and the Montreal Impact.

Cole spent six years with the 38-year-old Ivorian forward at English powerhouse Chelsea. During their time in West London, the two players were cornerstones for Chelsea sides that won four FA Cups, one Premier League title and a UEFA Champions League title in 2012.

The two Blues legends will face off on Saturday when the Galaxy visit Drogba’s Impact. Despite dealing with a hip flexor injury as of late, Drogba has put together another strong season with four goals and three assists in seven games.

Ahead of Saturday, Cole has advised his teammates on how to handle the hulking striker.

“He’s a difficult player. Regardless of his age, he’s still a handful; he’s still strong. He can shoot with his left or right foot, so it’s going to be difficult,” Cole told LA Galaxy Insider. “We have very experienced players like Jelle Van Damme, who can hopefully handle him.

“[Montreal] is not just a one-man team, though. They have a lot of young and good players. It’s going to be a difficult game.”
