The Professional Referee Organization announced on Wednesday that assistant referee Mike Kampmeinert made an incorrect decision in calling an offside to negate a goal scored by the LA Galaxy in last week's scoreless draw with Sporting Kansas City.
Paul Rejer, PRO's Training and Development manager, reveals that Kampmeinert incorrect raised his flag on Galaxy forwards Sebastian Lletget and Mike Magee in the 56th minute of the draw. Both players were in an onside position when Giovani dos Santos delivered a pass into the penalty area that was eventually deflected by Magee toward Lletget who scored a goal that did not count.
Rejer examines that Kampmeninhert may have been out of position when the call was made and unjustly judged that Lletget was in an offside position and that the assistant referee needed to take more time to examine the situation before ruling.
