Covenant House California (CHC) is a non-profit agency whose mission is to reach out to at-risk homeless youth living on the streets and offer them hope and opportunities to turn their lives around. With over 40% of homeless youth identifying as LGBTQ, Covenant House often provides resources to individuals after suffering abuse, neglect and being shunned by their families or communities who have nowhere else to go. A large number have been thrown out of their homes while others have aged out or left the foster care system with no family, no support, and no one to turn to. Over 6,000 youth ages 18-24 find themselves homeless in Los Angeles County with only 3% of shelter beds designated to this population. Since 1988, CHC has impacted the lives of more than 160,000 homeless youth out of their Los Angeles and Bay Area locations.

“We believe that no young person deserves to be homeless. They have a right to be clothed, fed, receive medical treatment, have a safe place to sleep, and most importantly… to be loved,” said Covenant House Los Angeles Chief Development & Communications Officer, Amanda Sattler. “We also believe that it is the responsibility of our entire community to care for these young people, who have been cast aside by the people and systems that were supposed to care for them.”

Join the LA Galaxy Foundation in raising awareness, support and funds at the LA Galaxy Sleep Out, where LA Galaxy staff members and fans will be asked to sleep out at StubHub Center overnight, so Los Angeles youth don’t have to. Leading up to the Sleep Out, participants will raise funds to support Covenant House’s mission of serving homeless young people. At the event, participants will meet the teenagers and young adults who live at Covenant House, learn about their strengths, struggles, and dreams, and then spend one night outdoors, in a show of solidarity and support.
