Three things we learned from the LA Galaxy’s 4-2 win over Orlando City SC

CARSON, Calif. – LA Galaxy Insider Adam Serrano provides his Three Things We Learned from the Galaxy’s 4-2 win over Orlando City SC.

GIOVANI DOS SANTOS DOMINATES ONCE AGAIN

Giovani dos Santos kept up his scorching form with a brace in the LA Galaxy’s 4-2 victory over Orlando City SC.

Dos Santos notched a first-half brace and added two assists in yet another transcendent performance in the attack on Sunday. Picking right where he left off against Salt Lake midweek, Dos Santos was as aggressive as he was clinical, ravaging an Orlando defense that grew increasingly frustrated with the Mexican’s impact on the game.

Dos Santos ends his red-hot week with five goals and three assists over the last eight days. The 27-year-old striker now has 14 goals and 11 assists in an impressive 2016 campaign.

DONOVAN MAKES HIS RETURN IN GALAXY BLOWOUT

Landon Donovan went seven minutes in his first action in nearly two years on Sunday.

Only three days after ending his retirement, Donovan was a second half substitute for the Galaxy in their 4-2 win over Orlando City. Donovan did not have much impact on the field, but the 34-year-old received a hero’s welcome from a jubilant StubHub Center crowd who was overjoyed by his return.

With Donovan looking to return to fitness after a two-year layoff, short stints like Sunday’s will be the norm as the Galaxy look to bring their all-time leading scorer back up to speed.

GARCIA IMPRESSES IN HIS FIRST START OF 2016

Rafael Garcia won plenty of new supporters with his industrious showing in the LA Galaxy’s victory on Sunday.

Making his first start of 2016, Garcia was tasked with slowing down Orlando’s Brazilian magician Kaka. Garcia proved up to the task as he displayed the proper amount of energy and physicality in the center of the park to help limit the Brazilian playmaker’s ability to connect with the rest of his attack.

Although the Galaxy are stacked in central midfield, performances like Sunday’s will keep Garcia on Bruce Arena’s radar down the stretch.
